Building a sustainable future
The new facility will open debt-free, with reserves for long-term care and maintenance. Stuhr Museum and Foundation are building on proven growth and sound planning.

A community’s identity is deeply rooted in its history and culture. For 60 years, Stuhr Museum has preserved the region’s history and served as a cultural epicenter. Legacy in Motion carries that mission forward through open access for all Nebraskans and a sustainable future for Stuhr.
Keep me in the loopA $20 million campaign for Stuhr’s future
Legacy in Motion is a comprehensive investment in Stuhr Museum’s future through equitable access, expanded capacity, and long-term campus stewardship. It brings together two transformational initiatives: an Admission Reserve that opens the museum’s doors to every Nebraskan, and a new 20,000-square-foot multi-use facility that serves the whole region year-round.

A home for history
For the first time, some of Stuhr’s most significant artifacts will have a purpose-built home open to the public. The fully restored Florence & Cripple Creek train cars, today tucked away in a maintenance building, will become a living centerpiece of the new facility, woven into events, programming, and everyday visits.
